Instrument Rating

Expand your horizons and learn to fly in the clouds! With your Instrument Rating you will learn to file instrument flight plans, fly in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) through the clouds and breakout with a runway in sight miles away from your departure airport using only your flight instruments. A truly exhilarating experience!

FAA Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold a Private or Commercial Pilot Certificate

  • Log at least 40 hours of instrument flight time

  • Complete at least 15 hours of training with an authorized instructor (CFII)

  • Pass the FAA Instrument Rating -Airplane (IRA) Airman Knowledge Test

  • Pass the FAA Instrument Rating – Airplane Practical Test

    *10 hours of training may be logged in our RedBird Aviation Training Device (BATD)
